I didn’t document much during the break, but I’ve been making some steady progress on the app – just a bit each day. My mom studied social welfare policy, so she was very supportive from the beginning, telling me that small steps can add up to become meaningful changes. If this app ends up providing just a few kids like the Minwoos new opportunities and experiences, then it’s worth it.
Still, building the app has been more difficult than I expected. I’ve run into issues on a regular basis, often ones that are totally out of the blue. Things would work fine one day, completely break down, and magically work again. Of course, these were from my little mistakes, but it can be hard to notice sometimes, making it frustrating.
The app has begun taking shape, but there are still parts that feel off. When I first started, I thought six months would be more than enough to finish. Of course, I was very wrong. My goals have shifted multiple times, and now I’m hoping to finish it by the end of the year, to a point where I feel it’s solid.
I’ve also started thinking about how to promote the app and connect with organizations. My mom told me that one of her friends has experience in running small film festivals, and she offered to give me advice sometime, when she’s available. I’m really grateful for the help.
I felt a bit rushed throughout the entire project, but I’m learning that I should take one step at a time. Finishing is just a matter of time now.
