I finally created a website for VolKo:

Ive been telling myself that the app should be done and working before making the website, but I realized at some point that I might not get to start if I continue trying to perfect things. So I just went ahead and took the first step.
I know people mostly connect using social media, and a lot of money is needed to get your website on the first result of google, that’s not something I can do right now. So I don’t expect a flood of visitors to randomly find VolKo online, but rather find out through friends, word of mouth, or possible events we could do. This is also why I think the content in this website is important – it is the first impression people are going to get about us.
When I thought about the things that must be included when introducing VolKo, three big things came to mind:
1. We’re brand new. We’re just starting, so theres chance for anyone to be a part of us
2. VolKo is purely volunteer-driven. Everything is done with good intentions, not for money/credit
3. Promises matters. Volunteering relies on trust – when you say you are comitted, it means a lot for both the people you’re helping and the people that help you.
My life has been hectic lately. Beginning high school has introduced me to many new things, and there are so many projects and ideas I want to realize. It gets overwhelming at times, but I don’t think I need to do everything all at once, but rather take things step by step. After all, that’s what VolKo is about – making small changes that build into something bigger.
The website is just the beginning. It’s far from perfect, of course, but it’s a start, and it’s a place to tell the world what VolKo is about and what it could become. I hope that maybe, little by little, people would find their way here.
