Recently, a new president for Korea was elected – the former president didn’t finish his term and was impeached. Although I never had much interest for politics, videos of presidential debates and speeches found its way to my YouTube feed.
And who would be against “boosting the economy” and “helping marginalized people”? The candidates mentioned all these things, and they sounded great.
They were pretty similar in terms of what they said. Some promised innovation in future industries, but there didn’t seem to be a specific focus.
What most surprised me was that there was not much talk about technology, such as AI, which is clearly the future. It’s a growing part of our lives. Maybe it’s because our current and former president were lawyers, so they tend to focus on other policies for our country.
But I think focusing on technology will have the same effect. I’ve hear phrases like “Tech for Good”, and it stuck with me.
I first started by just volunteering, but the apps were in such low quality that decided to make one myself.
Working on technology is great, and it’s what I like to do. But what would be even better is if what I created made a change. I could make a difference, and this idea speaks to me.
