I couldn’t see the Minwoos for the past few weeks because of my physics exam, but I finally got to spend some time with them again. The weather was great, so we went to Yeouido Park. It’s been almost a year since I met them last summer.
They live in a group home with their “mom and dad”, the couple who runs the group home. The dad is a pastor, and he seems like a kind and caring person. He tries his best to provide the kids with different experiences, sending them to after-school programs and Taekwondo. From what I heard, the government provides roughly 2 million won ($1500) per month for each child. But they still need to pay the rent, so it’s financially tight.
The Minwoos are playful and cheerful, and absolutely love food. Even when they’re filled to the brim, they still want more. Today they really wanted to get samgyeopsal (grilled pork belly), but it was all sold out in all nearlby restaurants because of a marathon event. They looked really dissappointed. The older Minwoo said he didn’t have any meat all throughout May.
I wonder what kind of people the Minwoos will grow up to be.
